蓮のうてな

宗祖弘法大師（空海）御誕生　千二百五十年記念出版。二〇二〇年に日本画家・千住博氏によって高野山・金剛峯寺に奉納された障屏画「瀧図」、「断崖図」と高野山の風景を写し撮った、蛇腹折り装丁の写真集。写真家・津田直が高野の峰に立ち〈目を瞑ることで視えてくる世界〉に目を向けた。

“瞼の上の僅かな光を頼りに、風の流れに身を任せ、力んだ力を緩めていく。再び眼に光を取り戻していくと、真新しい朝を臨むかのように、薄っすらと光景が浮かび上がってくる。その輪郭を丁寧に掬い上げていくように、僕は静寂の中で音を立てないようにシャッターを切った。”

Published commemorating the 1250^th anniversary of the birth of founder of the Sect, Kobo Daishi (Kukai).

This is an accordion folded photobook with pictures taken of the paintings on fusuma sliding doors, Waterfall and Cliff which were dedicated to Koyasan Kongobuji Temple by a Japanese painter, Hiroshi Senju in 2020. Photographer, Nao Tsuda stood on the land of Mount Koya looking into <a world seen only while closing one’s eyes>.

“Guided by a faint light above my eyelids, I would let myself go with the flow of the air, relaxing my muscles. As I regained light entering my eyes, a faint scene would emerge as if I were greeting a brand-new morning. Carefully gathering its contours, I released my camera shutter, trying not to shatter the existing silence.”
