Eventually, Deer Become Men / Eventually, Men Become Deer

Participating in the Reborn-Art Festival 2019 inspired Tsuda to make frequent trips to Oga Peninsula in Ishimaki, and while travelling further north, he came in contact with Deer Dance known as Shishi Odori, as well as pursuing words of Kenji Miyazawa.  Shishi Odori has been passed down for generations centered around the Tohoku region, with people dancing and praying for good harvest, repose of souls, and commemoration of ancestors.  Wearing hand-made costumes of one stitch followed by another, dancing youngsters wearing antlers on their heads resembling young deer were seen.  There, Tsuda would gaze at the presence of deer going back and forth between nature and humans.  Eventually, his attention is focused in the direction of Japanese pampas grasslands and sea.

After 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, Tsuda has decided to publish this booklet in dedication to the lost land and lives of people in the natural disaster, as a serene requiem. (From Eventually, Deer Become Men / Eventually, Men Become Deer photo book card)
